Anime Vanguards Best Teams 2026: Comps for Every Game Mode
A tier list doesn't win games — team synergy does. You can have six S-tier units and still lose to someone with four A-tiers placed correctly. This guide shows you the exact team compositions, placement orders, and upgrade priorities for Story, Infinite, and Raid modes.
Anime Vanguards team building: the difference between winning and wiping is unit synergy, not individual power.
1. Team Building Fundamentals: The 6-Slot Rule
Every Anime Vanguards team has exactly 6 unit slots. How you fill them determines whether you clear a stage or wipe on wave 15. The most common mistake new players make is filling all 6 slots with DPS units and wondering why enemies walk right past them.
| Role | Slots Needed | What They Do | Example Units |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farm / Economy | 1-2 | Generate income to upgrade other units. Without a farmer, your DPS stays at Level 1 | Speedwagon, Bulma, Farm Unit |
| DPS (Primary) | 2-3 | Main damage dealers. Position where they cover the most track | Gojo, Goku, Naruto, Ichigo |
| Support / Buff | 1 | Amplifies DPS damage, slows enemies, or provides range buffs | Kisuke, Orwin, Support Unit |
| Bleed / Hybrid | 1 | Applies damage-over-time or has mixed DPS/support capabilities | Sukuna, Aizen, Hybrid DPS |
The Golden Ratio: 2 Farm + 3 DPS + 1 Support = the safest team comp for any mode. Adjust to 1 Farm + 4 DPS + 1 Support for modes where you start with extra income.
2. Story Mode Speed-Clear Comps
Photo: Unsplash — Story mode is about speed. Your goal is clearing waves before they reach the exit, not surviving forever.
| Slot | Meta Comp (Best) | Budget Comp (F2P) | Placement Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Speedwagon (Farm) | Bulma (Farm) | Deploy first, upgrade to max Farm ASAP |
| 2 | Gojo (DPS) | Jotaro (DPS) | Place at first corner — covers longest track segment |
| 3 | Goku (DPS) | Ichigo (DPS) | Place after first corner, covering mid-lane |
| 4 | Naruto (DPS) | Tanjiro (DPS) | Place near exit for clean-up duty |
| 5 | Kisuke (Support) | Orwin (Support) | Place in range of all DPS units |
| 6 | Sukuna (Bleed) | Any Bleed unit | Flex position — fill gaps in coverage |
Upgrade order: Farm → Level 3 → First DPS to Level 2 → Farm to Max → Second DPS to Level 3 → Support to Level 2 → Max DPS → Flex. Never upgrade your Support before your DPS, and never max your Flex unit before your primary DPS is at least Level 4.
3. Infinite Mode Meta (Wave 30+)
Infinite Mode changes everything. Enemies scale exponentially — by wave 30, a Level 3 DPS hits like a Level 1 in Story mode. You need units that scale with enemy HP or provide percentage-based damage.
| Slot | Unit | Role | Why Infinite |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Speedwagon (Maxed) | Farm | Income is critical past wave 25 — you need millions in upgrades |
| 2 | Gojo (Evolved) | Primary DPS | Hollow Purple pierces — ignores enemy defense scaling |
| 3 | Sukuna (Evolved) | Bleed DPS | Malevolent Shrine does % max HP damage — scales infinitely |
| 4 | Goku (UI) | DPS | Ultra Instinct form has true damage that bypasses armor scaling |
| 5 | Kisuke (Max Support) | Support | Range buff keeps your DPS covering more track as enemies get faster |
| 6 | Time Stop Unit | CC | Stopping enemies for 3-5 seconds is worth more than another DPS at wave 35+ |
4. Raid Boss Team Composition
| Slot | Unit | Why Raids |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Farm Unit (optional) | Raids start with income — farmer is optional for experienced players |
| 2 | Goku (UI) | Highest single-target DPS in the game. Essential for melting the boss |
| 3 | Gojo (Evolved) | Purple bypasses boss defense buffs. Second-highest boss DPS |
| 4 | Naruto (Baryon) | Rasenshuriken has stacking damage per hit — ideal for single-target boss fights |
| 5 | Debuffer (Freeze/Slow) | Slowing the boss gives your DPS more uptime. Freeze effects cancel boss attacks |
| 6 | Healer / Shield | Some raid bosses have map-wide damage. A healer keeps your units alive through it |
5. Common Team-Building Mistakes
- All DPS, no Farm. You cannot upgrade 6 DPS units on starting income. By wave 8, your Level 1 units are useless.
- Overlapping coverage zones. Two DPS covering the exact same track segment is a wasted slot. Spread them out.
- Evolving too early. Evolution costs more than Level 5 upgrade. Level your unit to 4-5 before evolving, unless the evolution gives a massive power spike.
- Ignoring range buffs. Support units with range buffs can increase a DPS unit's effective coverage by 30-50%. That's like adding an extra half of a DPS for free.
- No CC in Infinite Mode. Past wave 30, enemies move so fast that pure DPS can't kill them before they reach the exit. One crowd-control unit buys your DPS the time it needs.
